
Top tips for a healthy mouth
- Don’t smoke, or if you do, try to quit. Apart from the smell on your breath, smoking is linked to gum disease and oral cancer.
- Brush and floss twice daily. Using a mouthwash once a day also helps. Change your toothbrush on a regular basis.
- Visit a dental hygienist regularly. Twice a year is recommended this will keep calculus at bay and ensure you are using the correct brushing and flossing technique.
- Avoid sugary acidic foods and drinks especially as snacks.
- Drinking water after meals and on a regular basis through the day hydrates your soft tissues and keeps plaque acid levels low while promoting saliva.
